Model PC42 Phase Angle Controller

The Model PC42 phase angle controller designed by Corrosion Electronics is ideally suited to cathodic protection systems where multiple output transformer rectifiers are to be used. It can however, be used on single output transformer rectifiers requiring no greater than 25 volts or 8 amps output. The PC42 controller consists of 2 parts - the front panel control board and the DCR3P recifier module. (see pictures below)

The DCR3P recifier module contains all the necessary components that make up the rectifier section. These are:

Bullet1 Transformer and choke
Bullet1 SCR Device and Blocking Diode
Bullet1 PCB containing Interrupt relay, Current Shunt,
DC Output Filtering and SCR Firing Circuitry.

The DCR3P rectifier module can easily be removed from the transformer recifier by undoing the 4 screws securing it in place. Furthermore, all wiring to the DCR3P module is of a plug and socket nature making it very easy swap out modules in the instance of failure on site.

The PC42 phase angle controller uses a very similar front panel design to the PC41 controller that we offer apart from one minor difference - the inclusion of a output normal indicator mounted on the front panel. This LED is used to indicate the controller is outputting and that the output current is above a user adjustable low current setpoint.

The PC42 controller features 3 switch selectable modes of control:

Bullet1 Voltage Control
Bullet1 Current Control
Bullet1 Auto Control (Potential control)

Adjusting the output can be acheived by turning a multiturn lockable counting dial until desired set point is reached. Other features include:

Bullet1 Modular Design (Easily Servicable)
Bullet1 Easily removable plug and socket terminations to all components
Bullet1 Proportional gain and reset adjustments to ensure stability
accross all load conditions
Bullet1 Provision for remote control using 0-10V input
Bullet1 Voltage and current limit adjustments together with LED indication
Bullet1 Output normal LED

In conclusion, The PC42 phase angle controller represents a smart solution, combining the rugged and reliable technology of phase angle control into an easily servicable product.
